FIVE ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO SPEND NEW YEARS EVE

With New Year’s Eve looking a little different for everyone this year due to lockdown restrictions, we might have to get creative with our plans. Whilst it won’t be the same as every other year, there are still lots of things you can do to ring in 2021.

Have a bubble party!

It might just be you and your family or friends, but you can still put on your best outfit, create a party playlist and break out the buffet. Experiment with appetisers you’ve always wanted to try or be a mixologist for the night and try some new cocktails in your fancy glassware. You could even try YouTube karaoke for added fun!

Have a cosy night in

New Year’s Eve doesn’t have to be all about dressing up and going out, opt for a cosy night in with your bubble instead. Put on your pyjamas, make hot chocolates and break out the board games. Mobile apps such as Heads Up are great fun too – just don’t get too competitive!

Big Quiz of the Year

Get your friends and family together via video call and create a big quiz for everyone to enjoy. Separate into several rounds, with interactive elements to keep everyone entertained – if you’re really brave, enforce a fancy dress rule too.

Dine in

Many restaurants have created New Year’s Eve meal kits to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Opt for a slow evening, with delicious food, good wine followed by your favourite film.

Go solo

If you’ve found yourself alone this New Year’s Eve due to restrictions, don’t worry – have a night in to yourself in preparation for a brand-new year. Have a pamper evening with face masks, a long bath and a goal-setting activity to get you started for the year to come.

Whatever you do this New Year’s Eve, make sure you stay safe and adhere to local guidelines. Hands, face, space is essential to slowing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping your friends and family safe.
